Altanaveigh and Lisdrumliskea Killings

Like the Dunmanway-Clonakilty-Bandon killings (see April 26^th to 28^th above) and the Collacrease killings (see June 30^th below), these killings are highly controversial.  According to an RTE documentary on Frank Aiken made in 2006, there were six Protestant civilians killed this night including an elderly woman.  According to this documentary, the attacks were retaliation for the killing of two Catholics and the sexual assault on the wife of a friend of Aiken by B Special Constables.  Information on the RTE documentary is available here.
