Brennan of Stack/Collins

Interesting question asked by Brennan in the wake of this arrest.  Brennan mentions that after de Valera’s arrest, he was asked to go see Stack.  (Brennan was Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Dáil government at the time.)  When he did see Stack, all that Stack wanted was to ensure that all departments carried on as usual.  At the time of Griffith’s arrest (after Bloody Sunday), Collins had become Acting President which he relinquished when de Valera returned from the States.  Brennan asked “Was it the case that Dev had appointed Stack as Acting-President and not Collins?”
