Column of 3rd Cork Brigade Enters Bandon

The column meets a number of policemen coming back from the cinema and attack them, resulting in the death of one policeman (Con Frederick Perrier) and the wounding of another (Con Kearns).  Another section of the column in a different part of the town kidnapped two British soldiers and two Navy men.  The two soldiers (Corporal Stubbs and Private Knight of the Essex regiment) were killed and the two Navy men were released.  Deasy gives the date of this attack as the 22nd February.  After this engagement, the column is dismissed for two weeks.  (Barry disputes elements of Deasy's account.)
