Trail of Dripsey Captives

Before the court are Patrick O'Mahony, Berrings; Timothy McCarthy, Fornaught;  Thomas O'Brien, Dripsey; Jeremiah O'Callaghan, Aghabullogue; Daniel O'Callaghan, Dripsey; John Lyons, Aghabullogue; Eugene Langtry, Kilabbey and Denis Sheehan, Dereen, Coachford.  They were charged with levying war against His Majesty which was a charge which carried the death penalty if convicted.  The court adjourned until 8th February.  Of the other two men captured after the Dripsey ambush, Jim Barrett was too ill to be tried, he had his leg amputated but never recovered.  His funeral took place on the 23rd March.  The other man (Denis Murphy) was tried on the March 9th.
