Choose a small group of students. Write their comments as they work through the courseware. Write your observations/surprises/confusions and get comments from another, if possible. Refer to the students work. "The most difficult thing about being an observer is recognizing the unexpected; it's much easier to record the expected." (Newman, 1998)

What can you do about what you find?

What kind of evidence can you produce to show that what you are doing is having an impact? Make sure that you have supported evidence of what is happening in the form of questionnaires, student comments, other comments, the criteria you used to judge the package.

How will you evaluate the impact? Make sure that you have the evidence. Keep the observation notes, comments from students, completed questionnaires.

How will you ensure that any judgements you might make are reasonably fair and accurate? How can we judge that use of the program is better than traditional approach? It is important to have evidence to show that what you say is happening is actually happening.
