Mairéad and Bernie completed their MSc. in Education and Training Management in
2002. They are attempting to sustain their action research enquiries through their
participation in this project.
Project Title:
Building Agency for School Improvement, Coherence &
Sustainability Spirals
The
BASICS Project aims at the professional development of change agents, key
persons internal or external to the school, who can support schools in dealing
with complex systemic change. Its
primary objective is coherence building through developing a deep understanding
of the nature of change, as well as strategies and supporting instruments for
introducing, implementing and sustaining desired changes. The ultimate goal is school improvement:
improving the quality of pupil learning and development though improving the
quality of practitioner learning and professional development.
The
activities of the project will consist of the development of some tangible
outcomes: a publication, containing a common European framework for educational
change, supporting strategies and instruments, a change agent competences
portfolio, a set of course modules resulting in an international Comenius 2
Course, and an international forum for change agents.
