Introduction

This first CALL workshop has been funded by the ODTL Teaching and Learning Fund (small-scale projects). Its main objective was to help SALIS staff to better understand the concepts and principles of Web-based Interactive Language Learning activities or exercises and to acquire practical skills in this area.

Participants had the opportunity firstly to discuss a variety of issues related to the integration of interactive web-based language learning activities in the language curriculum and secondly to try out the London Guildhall University Authoring System (LGU Author) developed by Dr Dominique Hémard and Steve Cushion.

This site gives you an overview of what has been done during the two days and includes the presentations outlines. Examples of exercises that have been developed by SALIS lecturers during the academic year illustrate some of the possibilities offered by interactive web-based language learning activities. You will also find some guidelines written to help you publish your exercises on the DCU web server.

Should you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact any of the contributors.
