Welcome from Dean


Welcome to the DCU Faculty of Science and Health website. The Faculty is made up of six constituent Schools, Biotechnology, Chemical Sciences, Health and Human Performance, Mathematics, Nursing and Physical Sciences. We offer a range of over 20 honours degree courses from Chemical Sciences to Athletic Therapy and Training, Astronomy to Nursing, Psychology to Sport Science and many more. Many of our courses have affiliations to or are recognized by external professional bodies, for example, the Institute of Actuaries and Teaching Council of Ireland.

The Faculty is home to three National Research Centres – the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR), National Institute for Cellular Biology (NICB), the National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology (NCPST). In addition, the Faculty is host to three University Designated Research Centres, namely, the International Centre for Neurotherapeutics (ICNT), the Centre for Advancement in Science Education and Learning (CASTeL) and the Centre for Preventive Medicine (CPM) and also to the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded Centre for Science Engineering and Technology (CSET), the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute (BDI) the Adaptive Information Cluster (AIC), the National Biophotonics and Imaging Platform (NBIP), the Irish Separation Science Cluster (ISSC) and Molecular Therapeutics for Cancer Ireland (MTCI). Further significant developments include the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), the result of collaboration between the Faculty, other HEIs, the IDA and multinational companies based in Ireland.
