Carlos Teixeira is a post-doctoral researcher at Dublin City University, funded by the Irish Research Council and Adapt research centre. He holds a PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain) and KU Leuven (Belgium). His research interests revolve around the human aspects of translation technology, especially the interaction between translators and tools. His thesis investigated how different configurations of translation metadata in translation tools affected translator behaviour and attitudes, by using eye tracking and computer logging tools for collecting data from the translation process. His academic background also includes a BSc in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Linguistics from the University of Campinas (Brazil), and an MA in Translation and Intercultural Studies from Universitat Rovira i Virgili. He has also been active as a freelance translator for over 15 years, specializing in localization and technical translation from English, French and Spanish into Portuguese.
