Biographical Details

Alicia Castillo Villanueva is a Lecturer in Spanish at Dublin City University. Prior to this, she held different academic positions at the University College Cork and the University of Limerick. Her academic and research background lies on different aspects of Hispanic Studies such as translation, language, literature, culture and film. Additionally, she has further qualifications on teaching Spanish as a foreign language and the use of new technologies to teach Spanish from the Cervantes Institute in Madrid and Dublin. She has 15 years’ experience working at third level education at different Universities in Ireland. Her current research revolves around the intersection of translation, conflict and memory studies. She also explores cultural representations from the period of the transition to democracy (1975-1982) and contemporary Spain.
