Biographical Details

Iker is Assistant Professor at the School of Applied Language and Cultural Studies. He holds a BA in Hispanic Philology (UNED), a MPhil in Literature and Theatre (UNED) and a MA in Applied Linguistics for teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo-Instituto Cervantes). He completed an International PhD on Applied Linguistics (Universidad de Alcalá). His investigation was awarded the ASELE 2017 prize for the best PhD and will be published in a book in 2018.

He has taught in several countries. Before joining Dublin City University, he held the position of Invited Teacher at Université de Montréal (2013-2016). He lectured in second language acquisition and applied linguistics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He was awarded the Spanish Lecturer Grant by the Ministery of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain.

Iker's research interest and current PhD supervisions lie in the field of applied linguistics. They include language education, multilingualism and language policy and planning.
