Dr Alan Gorman, BEd (DCU), MEd (TCD), PhD (UCC), is Director of School Placement on the Bachelor of Education (BEd DC002/003) and Professional Master of Education (PME Primary Education). At postgraduate level, he lectures in qualitative research methods on the Master of Education (MEd) and in online pedagogy, policy analysis, and teacher education on the Doctorate of Education (EdD). Prior to the DCU Incorporation, he was a lecturer in the Education Department, St Patrick's College, Drumcondra (2012-2016), where he worked in the area of school placement as well as contributing to the MEd and MTeach programmes. Before joining St Patrick's College, Alan worked as a primary school teacher in Dublin.
Alan's research and teaching interests include: school-based learning in initial teacher education, educational methodology, online learning and pedagogy, teacher education across the continuum, and research methods. He is a BEd graduate of St Patrick's College, Drumcondra and a MEd graduate of Trinity College Dublin. He completed his PhD in the School of Education, University College Cork, under the supervision of Professor Kathy Hall.
