Dr Marnie Hay specialises in modern Irish history, with particular emphasis on the histories of the Irish cultural revival, the Irish revolution, and children and childhood. She also has experience teaching modules on: the history of children and childhood in Europe and North America; Northern Ireland; Irish Studies; and Canadian Studies. Her present research examines Irish youth culture in the early twentieth century and she is currently writing a monograph on the nationalist youth organisation Na Fianna Éireann in the period 1909-23, which will be published by Manchester University Press. She is a founding member of the History of Irish Childhood Research Network, a former committee member of the Irish Society for the Study of Children’s Literature (ISSCL), and a former academic director of the Parnell Summer School (2011-12).
