Biographical Details

Dr Daithí Ó Corráin is a lecturer in history in the School of History & Geography and is chair of the MA in History Programme Board. A former Government of Ireland Research Scholar in the Humanities and Social Sciences, he completed his Ph.D. at Trinity College Dublin in 2004. Daithí's broad research interests are 19th and 20th century Irish political, cultural and ecclesiastical history. At present he specializes in the history of the Irish Revolution, 1912-23 and the aftermath of the 1916 Rising. Daithí is completing the first authoritative history of the Irish Volunteers from its inception in November 1913 to its re-branding as the IRA in 1919. He is also co-editor of the Irish Revolution series published by Four Courts Press.
