DCU Sport Takes the Gold!

Dublin, September 30th 2016

It’s official! DCU Sport, based in Dublin, has just been named as the Best Leisure Centre in Ireland for Quality Management Systems at this year’s National Q Mark Awards.

Hailed as “The Olympians of Business Excellence”, the team from DCU Sport were beaming with pride as they were called to the stage to receive the winner’s medal during a thrilling awards ceremony held in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin.

The Q Mark Awards are forever associated with Quality and Excellence in the minds of Irish consumers and it is the only system which allows businesses monitor 100% of their processes and procedures 100% of the time. Winning this award has shown that DCU Sport truly cares about their customers and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that it achieves the highest possible standards at all times.

DCU Sport operates the sports facilities for DCU students, staff, alumni and local public. They have over 5000 members and a monthly footfall of 65,000. In operation for 11 years, with 41 full and part-time staff they also support over 100 work experience students.

DCU Sport provide wellness support to their customers through a wide range of programmes. DCU Sport is proud to be associated with EIQA since 2009. The team are no strangers to the winner’s podium having collected this award 4 times before.

The Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar TD, who attended this year’s National Q Mark Awards, said “At the heart of the Governments strategy is supporting Irish businesses through policies to create the environment for a strong economic recovery by promoting competitiveness and productivity. Quality standards and good governance enables this growth and competiveness and it is exciting to see companies in the public, private and not for profit sectors competing side by side. These are the modern Irish businesses that are driving the engine of our recovery, and I wish them every success in the future”.

Ailbhe O’Dwyer who is a receptionist in the centre said “Winning the Q Mark award this year is another reminder of the ever-improving quality and standard of what DCU Sport has to offer. The consistency and dedication of the team is reflected not only in the positive customer feedback, but in the atmosphere present in DCU Sport.
